This song is one of the more heartbroken songs I have written. I was deeply in love with my partner who had a drinking problem. When I wrote this song, I truly began to realize that this relationship would likely never be the nurturing, safe harbour I dreamed of. It was a mid-point in a long and painful journey of loving someone truly, madly and deeply, yet not being able to make the relationship right no matter how hard I tried.
